Installation & Operation
How much will I save with Getricity?
Getricity aims to save you about 30% of your energy costs on average. This will vary with location, it is sunnier in the South than the North for example, but the UK government estimate that up to 10% of an SME's revenue is consumed by their electricity costs. The savings are real and immediate for your business and contact us today to see how you can save.

What size battery and how many solar panels do I need for my organisation?
The number of solar panels and size of the battery are based on your individual situation and no two companies are the same. Our team of experts at Getricity will carry out a comprehensive survey to determine what is appropriate for your site.
Can solar panels completely power my business/factory?
Yes. But don't just take our word for it - the Royal Society no less wrote a report recently on the benefits of solar and battery storage technologies. You can find the report here. We'd love to discuss any specific questions you might have.
How long can the battery power my operations?
This depends on various factors such as the electricity consumption profile of your company and the size of the battery we install. The Getricity engineers will design a solution that will provide significant storage capabilities to make sure you can run your operations and save money.
How durable are solar panels and batteries?
Getricity solar panels typically have a lifespan of around 40 years in normal operation, and the batteries have a typical lifespan of around 20 years depending on the charging cycles. Getricity aims to replace any hardware with an equivalent or better model over the lifespan of the panels or batteries.
What about the maintenance and insurance of Getricity solar panels and battery storage solutions?
We also take care of this for you - we make sure the solar panels are as effective as possible and the battery is charging and discharging safely and efficiently at all times. At the end of the contract, or if we replace any hardware, we will ensure complete recycling of the components in line with any applicable laws, regulations and industry good practice.
Do you need to come to our premises to do a site survey?
Yes, whilst there is a lot we can do from things like Google Earth, our skilled engineers do need to come on site to check existing electrical cables, the suitability and potential locations for the battery. It is a good opportunity for you and your team to ask any questions you have on the process of going green and saving money with Getricity.
Will my business experience downtime during installation?
Most Getricity installations will not interrupt daily operations of your businesses. The most you can expect is the possibility of needing to switch off power to connect everything up, which is unlikely to take long and we can coordinate this to minimise any disruption to your business. The Getricity engineers will take care of this in conjunction with your team to ensure a seamless switch over.
Do I need planning permission or building control?
In short - potentially yes, but Getricity will take care of the building control process via our engineers and we will engage planning authorities where necessary, and the installation of a Getricity system is unlikely to need extensive planning permission unless the building is listed.
How long does it take to install Getricity solar panels and battery storage?
Getricity installation times vary on the size of the system and the amount of electrical work that is needed. A smaller system can generally be installed in a few days before being signed off by the Grid (a processes known as "Energisation" - we didn't make that up). We will work with you and your teams to ensure the installation is not disruptive to your operations where possible.
